Where The Truth Lies – movie review

Where The Truth Lies is an erotic thriller about the strange death of a beautiful young woman found naked in the hotel suite of a popular comedy team. Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon star as” Vince & Lanny”,  who are big night club and television stars in the 1950s. Though known as “nice guys” to the public, off-stage they are sleazy womanizers and drug users.

The dead girl was no stranger to Lanny and Vince. Maureen (perfectly played by Rachel Blanchard) was young and beautiful but certainly not innocent. Was she a lover, a drug addict, or a blackmailer?

The key to the mystery appears to be Vince’s valet Reuben (David Hayman). Though quiet and subservient he has stayed loyal to the team for decades and knows all.

Karen wants to solve the mystery, but she also desperately wants to believe that underneath all the sleaze Vince & Lanny really are the wonderful guys they appeared to be on T.V.

Where The Truth Lies is a classic mystery where the plot has many unexpected twists and the full truth is not revealed until the very end.   Like any good mystery, the clues were throughout the film, but we had not guessed the ending. It is well worth watching.
